Material injection using cored wires is a low cost, effective way for in-ladle treatment of steel.

Cored wire injection can be used to control the nature and the morphology of inclusions, being also a simple solution for precise trimming of the chemical analysis of the steel, including micro-alloying.

Characteristics:
Code Filling material Specific filling [g/m] Percentage of filling material Norms
T13 SiCa30 Ca-Si 30/60 215 60% S.F. 600/1999
T13 C99 Graphite 99 145 50% S.F. 601/1999
T13 S100 Sulphur 100 200 58% S.F. 602/1999
The wire may also be filled with other materials such as: FeTi, FeB, FeNb, FeV, FeSiZr or any other materials, according to customer's request.

The metallic coating is made up of low carbon content steel strip, with the following chemical composition:
C [%] Mn [%] Si [%] P [%] S [%] Al [%]
max. 0.06 max. 0.40 max. 0.030 max. 0.015 max. 0.020 0.020 ... 0.080
 Metallic coating thickness: 0.35 mm.
Nominal outer diameter of the pipe: 13 mm.

Core characteristics:

Reel dimensions:
Inner diameter [mm] 500 - 600
Outer diameter [mm] 800 - 1200
Width [mm] 500 - 800
Weight [kg] 500 - 1350
The steel cored wire is tightly reeled.
Each reel is made up of a single wire.

Applications:

 Si-Ca cored wire
Steel treatment in the casting ladle, for advanced deoxidizing and modifying inclusions.

 Graphite cored wire
Steel treatment for controlled correction of the steel content of carbon, in certain limits.

 Titan-iron cored wire
Steel treatment in the casting ladle for chemical processing of the grit and improvement of the mechanical properties.

 Sulphur cored wire
Steel treatment for special steels in the casting ladle for controlled correction of the steel content of carbon, in certain limits.
